The more you chase status, the more constraints and constant expectations others put on you, or you do on yourself. The less happier you'll be, It's a losing game. Happiness is related to freedom, and naturally, the happier you'll be the less you'll fit in among others. Misery loves company.

If you truly found your call and achieved that freedom-happiness combo. Others will be less able to relate to you, and will be bothered by the reminder that they didn't do the same.

Happiness is expectations exceeded. Got to ride your own waves and set expectations relative to you as you were saying.

As I approach one year of working my full time corporate job, I’ve been reflecting on the status question a lot. I really don’t want to play that game and I’m trying to understand why. My initial hypothesis is that it’s because my parents prioritized stability and family over status, and as I get older. I’m becoming more like them.

It’s something I’m definitely going to write about so we’ll see if this initial take stands the test of revision haha.

I’ll be interested to read about it, certainly some genes involved there. I also think it could be more of a cultural shift as well as people prioritize themselves in trying to achieve what they truly want.
